6 mei 2020

Amsterdam, May 6, 2020. In 2019, ABP achieved all of the sustainable and responsible investing objectives which the pension fund had set itself for the period from 2015 through 2019. The investments in the sustainable development goals of the United Nations increased from €29 billion at the end of 2014 to €65.6 billion by the end of 2019. During that period, the investments in renewable energy rose from €1.4 billion to €6.5 billion. The CO2 emissions of the companies in which ABP holds shares, decreased by 37% compared with the 2014 level. The fund not only achieved its targets, but is also increasing the sustainability of its entire investment portfolio by choosing to invest in companies that devote sufficient attention to sustainable and responsible enterprise. In addition, companies have shown improvement in this area. At the same time, ABP notes that it has had the wind in its sails in the achievement of certain targets, such as the reduction of CO2 emissions. This was revealed in the Sustainable and Responsible Investment Report 2019 published today.
