Risk management

Investments only produce sufficient returns if you also run risks. Of course it is important to take these risks in a responsible manner. For this reason, ABP has created a policy for this very purpose. We refer to this policy as Risk Management.

Investment risks
Within the context of ABP, risk management focuses primarily on so-called investment risks. The supervisor, "De Nederlandsche Bank", assesses whether or not we have sufficient equity to cover the following risks: 

• Interest-rate risk
• Real assets risk
• Currency risk
• Commodities risk
• Credit risk
• Underwriting risk  
  

In addition, ABP identifies other risks including indexation risk, liquidity risk,  operational risk and compliance risk.
