Practical info

If you do not live in the Netherlands, there are some practical issues that need to be taken into account. For instance: ABP automatically receives information from the Personal Records Database of municipalities (GBA). If you live abroad, ABP will not receive any notifications.

Please remember to notify ABP of the following changes:

  • Marriage or cohabitation
  • Divorce or separation
  • Change of address
  • Change of bank account number
  • Death of your partner
  • Your relatives should notify ABP in case of your death (sending either a copy of the death certificate or an original funeral card)

Send your notification to
ABP
Postbus 4804

Certificate of life
Also, because ABP does not automatically receive this information, you will each year receive the certificate of life. This document acts as a proof of life. Read more about the certificate of life

Avoid double taxation
Because you do not live in the Netherlands, you may currently be paying taxes in two countries. There are rules and regulations to prevent you from paying these double taxes, but you have send in your application first. Read more about avoiding double taxation.

Bank accounts in the Netherlands or abroad
The financial side of your pension may need special attention. There are forms to help you in authorising another person to your bank account, or to arrange the actual transfer of payment from ABP to your foreign bank account. Read more about receiving pensions abroad and about authorisations.
